Assigning
a Bar Code:
First you need bar coded labels which contains
a bar code. Additionally you may customize your label
your company name,
phone number, logo or other humanly readable
information.
Utilizing pre-printed bar coded labels is more affordable than
purchasing a bar code label printer and printing custom labels
for each tool.

Next
attach a label to the tool and scan the bar code serial number
into the Bar Code ID field in the Tool List. There is a separate
field for this code so you don't have to use your Tool ID assigned
elsewhere. In this way if the tool label is damaged, simply select
a new label, attach it to the tool and scan the ID into the Bar
Code ID field to "reassign" the bar code ID.
Using
Bar Coding to Find a Tool:
You may scan the bar code in either the Check Out, Check In, or
Inquiry by Tool screens to locate the tool. For example, to check
out a tool select the Check Out Activity and scan the tool's bar
code. The program will search the Tool List and select the appropriate
tool. You may make multiple selections by scanning more than one
tool prior to completing the check out procedure. This feature
works in a similar way on the Check In and Inquiry by Tool screens
to locate a particular tool.
